Bancoora Beach, nestled beside the small township of Breamlea, is one of the Surf Coast’s hidden gems for beginners and intermediate surfers. Picking up a little more swell than Torquay, it offers fun left and right-hand peaks along the beach and is well protected by its large rocky point. 

One of the great things about Bancoora is its versatility. The beach offers excellent beginner to intermediate waves up to around 4 ft, and as the swell increases you can simply move closer to the rock wall, where the waves are often smaller and more manageable. If you’re chasing waves on a smaller swell, Bancoora is always worth a look. 

During summer the beach is patrolled by lifeguards, while outside the patrol season we recommend surfing with a mate and choosing conditions that suit your ability. When TSA runs lessons at Bancoora, we meet at the surf club, where you’ll also find toilets and a sheltered BBQ area. We reckon Banny is one of the Surf Coast’s best-kept secrets!
