Since 2001, Torquay Surfing Academy (TSA) has proudly stood as one of Australia’s original surf schools. For us, it’s more than just catching waves, we use outdoor education to help students connect through teamwork, build confidence and develop a genuine appreciation for the environment.

TEAM
Our passionate team of local surfers are highly trained and qualified to deliver safe, engaging and unforgettable outdoor experiences. Our sessions are carefully paced so every student can participate, stay engaged and have fun in a supportive and encouraging environment led by our experienced instructors.
All TSA instructors are certified and meet the rigorous standards set by Surfing Australia, while also holding the required Working with Children Checks, First Aid (including CPR) and Surf Rescue qualifications. As an affiliated Surfing Australia surf school, all TSA instructors complete the annual Australian Pool and Ocean Lifeguard Association (APOLA) certificate and the Ocean Safety Surf Coach Award (OSSCA), ensuring they remain up to date with the latest ocean safety, rescue and professional surf coaching standards.

SURFING
At Torquay Surfing Academy, our team consists of highly experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their love for the ocean and surfing.
Combining premium equipment with expert guidance, we ensure your students build confidence quickly, with most standing up in their very first lesson. Progress accelerates quickly over multi-day programs. Safety is our priority, which is why all lessons are conducted in safe, shallow water on user-friendly boards. Outfitted in top-quality wetsuits, students can enjoy a comfortable, year-round, all-weather experience that they will remember for a lifetime.
SUP
Bring your group to the water with stand-up paddleboarding, a safe and highly inclusive activity conducted in the beautiful surrounds of Spring Creek and its surrounding beaches.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding – Designed for maximum stability and buoyancy, our premium SUP boards help students of all fitness and confidence levels feel comfortable on the water.
Stand-up paddleboarding is a fantastic way to introduce students to water-based activities while developing balance, confidence and an appreciation of the natural environment.
It’s a fun and rewarding experience that encourages participation and allows students to explore the beautiful Surf Coast from a different perspective.
KAYAKING
Designed for maximum stability and ease of use, our twin-share sit-on-top ocean kayaks are ideal for students of all experience levels. Our flexible program offers two experiences, depending on your group’s age and objectives.
Safety is our highest priority. Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed with student safety and confidence in mind, allowing for easy exit and re-entry if required. Students develop paddling skills, water awareness and teamwork while all sessions are conducted at carefully selected locations with conditions matched to the group’s age, ability and experience.
BODY BOARDING
Bodyboarding is the perfect all-inclusive introduction to the excitement of wave riding!
Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, students will feel the thrill of catching their very first waves in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment. This session is ideal for younger students or those new to the ocean.
Looking for the ultimate beach adventure? Pair a bodyboarding session with a surfing lesson for even more fun, confidence and excitement in the water!
BEACH ACTIVITES
To support student safety and confidence in the ocean, our Surf Safety and Rescue sessions provide students of all experience levels with the knowledge and practical skills they need to enjoy the water safely. Our professional instructors deliver engaging training in water safety, ocean awareness and basic surf lifesaving techniques.
Students learn how to identify rips and currents, perform board rescues, safely navigate the shore break and build confidence through body surfing. Many schools choose this session as an important foundation for their visit, helping students develop greater awareness, confidence and respect for the ocean.
